This course provides an update on the fundamentals of neuro and musculoskeletal imaging, emphasizing CT and MR, as well as other methods to improve imaging quality. A review of recent updates in neuro CT/MRI protocols and advanced MRI techniques will help improve differential diagnosis of both the adult and pediatric brain, head & neck, spine and spinal cord lesions in the neurological system, and the major joints, nerves, ligaments and tendons of the musculoskeletal system.
Identify specific imaging features of adult and pediatric brain, spine and neck disorders, such as vascular malformations, infections, seizures, stroke and neck disease
Understand adult spine pain management procedures and pediatric spine disorders
Define imaging standards and recommendations for quality assurance and patient safety
Recognize normal anatomy and pathology related to MRI of the major musculoskeletal joints
Implement the newest cartilage imaging sequences and utilize metal suppression for orthopedic hardware
Perform emerging MSK techniques including MR evaluation of peripheral neuropathies
Differentiate between internal derangement and normal postoperative imaging appearances of the shoulder and knee
Recognize benign processes that can appear malignant in the musculoskeletal system
