This on-demand activity concentrates on the basics of liver ablation, beginning with patient selection and indication. The current devices available to the operator and the advantages/disadvantages of each will be discussed. In addition to, a focus on difficult hepatic tumor ablation cases with technical tips on approach, complication avoidance, ablation modality, and adjunct methods.
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of interventional radiologists, diagnostic radiologists, and other physicians at all levels with special interest in liver ablation.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this enduring activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify lesions that can be treated with a single modality and those that require combination therapies.
- Implement appropriate adjunct methods to safely approach difficult lesions.
- Plan the therapy adequately minimizing the risk of residual tumor post treatment.
