This book “Tips and Tricks in Interventional Cardiology” focuses on key procedures and techniques involved in interventional cardiology. Interventional cardiology has proliferated as the first approach in managing coronary artery disease. This book comprises of 15 chapters that discuss a number of practical concepts that will advance the skills of an interventional cardiologist in the catheterization laboratory. Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) was introduced by Andreas Grüntzig in 1977, after that alternative percutaneous approaches to balloon angioplasty (atherectomy, laser, stents have been introduced. Interventional cardiologists have now expanded their skills to structural interventions (ASD, VSD, PFO, valvular heart disease) and peripheral interventions (carotids, subclavian, renal, iliac). First chapter discusses the needs and requirements of PCI. Following chapters discusses PCI—work station, access, hemodynamics in Cathlab, radiographic views, guide catheters, guidewires, balloons—the balloon catheters, drug eluting stents and non-angiographic lesion assessment. In addition, the book also covers drugs used in cathlab, difficult subsets, structural heart disease, congenital heart disease and complication of percutaneous coronary intervention.
