IVC Filters (Meeting Byte)
- Participants will review recent use studies of IVC filters, what is known about sequelae of these devices, patient management and difficult filter retrieval in a case-based format.
- Originally presented at the SIR 2016 Annual Scientific Meeting
- Expires Nov. 1, 2019
ITEM DETAILS:
The use of inferior vena cava (IVC) filters continues to grow at a rapid rate and retrieval of IVC filters has increased in clinical importance. The first component of this activity will review recent studies regarding the use of IVC filters, what is known about sequelae of these devices and patient management. The second component will discuss techniques available to achieve success with difficult filter retrieval in a case-based format.
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of interventional radiologists, vascular physicians, etc., other physicians, and nurses, techs, etc. at all levels with special interest in IVC filters.
After purchasing access to this educational activity, you will be directed to the SIR Learning Center to participate in the activity and obtain your certificate.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this enduring activity, participants should be able to:
- Summarize the current data and guidelines that govern the use of IVC filters.
- Explain filter related complications and strategies to manage these complications.
- Describe filter-related issues that lead to difficult IVC filter retrieval.
- List the various techniques available to improve success with difficult to remove filters.
