This activity discusses the use and results of TIPS for ascites/hydrothorax, TIPS for variceal bleeding, TIPS with adjunctive embolization, and approaches for portal vein thrombosis recanalization.
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of interventional radiologists and other physicians at all levels with special interest in portal hypertension.
Learning Objectives
Following completion of this CME activity, the participant will be able to:
- Rationale and results to use TIPS for ascites/hydrothorax and discuss risk factors and management for hepatic encephalopathy.
- Review results of TIPS for variceal bleeding vs. TIPS with adjunctive embolization.
- Understand different approaches for portal vein thrombosis recanalization
- Discuss concepts of BRTO for gastric and duodenal varices.
