- Apply a structured approach to analyzing melanocytic lesions and distinguishing nevus from melanoma
- Recognize unique subtypes of nevus and melanoma that may easily misdiagnosed
- Apply a structured approach to classifying skin adnexal tumors
- Recognize serious non-neoplastic dermatologic conditions that are often urgent or emergent clinically and handle them appropriately and expediently
- Utilize a pattern based descriptive approach to evaluating and reporting inflammatory skin biopsies
- Identify and recognize important sarcomas that often arise in skin
- Recognize and diagnose various fibrohistiocytic, myxoid, and other spindle cell lesions that commonly present in skin
- Recognize select hematolymphoid and histiocytic entities that commonly present in skin
