Interventional radiologists are increasing managing and treating patients with complex coagulation issues. During this session, a world-class faculty reviews thrombophilias and hypercoagulable workups, the latest anticoagulants, complex anticoagulation scenarios and how they impact IR procedures, venous thromboembolic treatment guidelines and how IRs can run their own anticoagulation clinic.
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of interventional radiologists, vascular physicians, etc.; other physicians and nurses, techs, etc. at all levels with special interest in coagulation issues.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this enduring activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe when a patient should undergo a hypercoagulable workup and what specific tests should be ordered.
- Explain the advantages and disadvantages of each of the new oral anticoagulant medications.
- Identify the recommendations for treatment of a variety complex anticoagulation scenarios.
- List the latest guidelines for when and how long to anticoagulant patients for all of the VTE conditions.
