This activity covers various PAD topics, which include by are not limited to: the clinical approach to IR, anatomic and clinical considerations, anticoagulation, the natural history of PAD, the impact of risk factor modification in patients with PAD, the current evidence behind lower extremity interventions, the tools needed to treat difficult lesions, as well as vascular access strategies and pitfalls.
This activity provides focused educational opportunities for active PAD practicing physicians, fellows and trainees/early career, new to PAD; vascular medicine physicians, vascular surgeons, and interventional cardiologists.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this enduring activity, participants should be able to:
- Discuss the natural history of PAD and the impact of risk factor modification in patients with PAD
- Discuss effective periprocedural care of patients with PAD including important anticoagulation concepts
- Summarize the data related to outcomes of current lower extremity interventions including (Drug-coated balloons and stent trial data)
- Discuss the approach to endovascular therapy for intermittent claudication
- Describe appropriate vascular access and pitfalls
- Identify techniques for approaching patients with aortoiliac, femoropopliteal and infrapropliteal disease
